 39th Lisabi Festival:

Oke-Ona Bestows Balogun Woro Title On Fake Doctor Seun Ogunsanya

In a stark desecration of the highly reverred Egba traditional norms, Oke-Ona may have taken an ignoble path in the celebration of Lisabi by bestowing a fake doctor and impersonator, Seun Ogunsanya with Balogun Woro chieftaincy title.

The yearly festival is a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the Egba people in Abeokuta and across the globe. This unique festival honours the legendary Lisabi, a warrior and liberator of Egba people of old.

Lisabi holds a special place in Yoruba history, particularly among the Egba people. He’s remembered as a hero who fought tirelessly for freedom.

His life story became a symbol of the struggle for self-determination, inspiring many with his bravery, eloquence, and heartfelt dedication to his community during turbulent times. These are the traits you find in the Egbas.

Unfortunately, the character traits that defines true noble Egba man may have been substituted for despicable characters as Oke-Ona, one of the key subgroups that make up the Egba kingdom has named a charlatan and shenanigan as Balogun Woro of Oke-Ona.

This disturbing development comes on the heels of revelation that Seun Ogunsanya-a self acclaimed medical practitioner and Ph.D holder is an impersonator and academic fraudster.

Investigation has revealed he is a nutritionist and not a medical doctor as he wants unsuspecting members of the public to believe.

Again, on his LinkedIn profile, he claims to be a Ph.D holder. But diligent investigation has revealed he is guilty of academic fraud because he only has a Master Degree from University of Ibadan and not a Ph.D.

He also claims to be an historian, but this has also turned out to be an outright lies.

This ugly development has therefore prompted many to question why the fake medical doctor successfully swayed the traditional authorities have chosen him for such exalted chieftaincy despite the litany of criminal investigations trailing him.

WHEN SCHOOL GIRLS LEARN, THE WORLD CHANGES IN ILAWO

. As Olori Fashola-MacGregor Mentors 200 School Girls on Menstrual Health & Hygiene

Three days to Valentine's Day, the queen of Orile Ilawo Kingdom, Her Royal Majesty, Ambassador (Dr) Omolara Fashola-MacGregor has led the charge for the preservation of the right of the girl-child through an awareness and mentorship initiative primarily designed for the promotion of menstrual health and hygiene in tennage girls.

The initiative, code named 'Project Reddot' in collaboration with a non-governmental organization, Vweta Chadwick Empowerment Foundation is a community-driven initiative focussed on empowering tennage girls aged 13 to 19 with vital knowledge, mentorship and access to essential menstrual hygiene resources.

The event which held on Wednesday 11th February 2026 at the Orile Ilawo Royal Palace along Oba MacGregor Road, Ilawo, Abeokuta had over 200 tennage school girls selected from neighbouring communities in attendance to create a safe, exclusive space where they learnt menstrual hygiene and health; boosted their confidence and received practical guidance on preventing teenage pregnancy.

The initiative also presented opportunity to break the silence around menstruation, confronted harmful taboos and ensured that no girl feels ashamed or excluded because of her menstrual period.

Through an engaging and culturally sensitive interactive session anchored by the NGO's Director of Organization (South)Joan Ejiro, the students were taught the importance of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), bodily autonomy and building self-worth. The use of relatable language and open dialogue allowed the girls to ask questions freely and learn how to care for their bodies with confidence and dignity.

Speaking on motivation behind the initiative, Olori Fashola-MacGregor said she is saddened by the prevalence of unwanted pregnancies particularly among teenage girls, many of whom have suddenly become teenage mothers due to lack of access to vital information about menstrual health and hygiene.

"As a queen and as a mother, I am saddened by the menace of teenage pregnancy among school girls because they are not getting the right information about the changes in their bodies as they grow into adulthood.

She espoused her thoughts. "Education is one of the greatest gift a girl can receive. It does not only teach them how to read and write but it teaches them to think, dream and believe in themselves. Education gives them knowledge, confidence and the power to create a better future.

"When a girl goes to school, she learns her rights and understands her value. She becomes strong enough to make good decisions about her life. She gains skills that helps her support her family and contribute to society.

"Sadly, many girls around the world are still denied this opportunity. Some are forced to drop because of poverty. Some are married off too young. Some are told education is not important for girls. But when a girl is taking out of school, her dreams are also taken away.

"Menstruation is a natural part of life. It happens to every girl and woman. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Yet for many girls, their periods come with fear, discomfort and hardship.

"Some girls miss school every month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. Some use old clothes, tissue or unsafe materials that can cause infections. Some feel embarrassed and hide instead of asking for help. This is known as Period Poverty- when girls and women lack access to proper menstrual products, clean facilities and education about their bodies.

"Period Poverty affects education, health and confidence. When girls miss classes regularly, they fall behind in their studies. Over time, many lose interest in school or drop out completely. But this problem can be solved," Olori Fashola-MacGregor insisted.

"When girls are provided with period kits, clean toilets, and accurate information about menstruation, they attend school confidently. They participate in class, sport and leadership activities without fear. No girl should lose her education because of her period," she added. "We must talk openly about menstruation. We must support programmes that provides sanitary products. And we must create safe environment where girls feel respected and supported. Ending period poverty means protecting dignity, keeping girls in school and giving girls fair chance to succeed."

On the need to support girls and women to be career-driven and live meaningful life, Olori MacGregor posited: "Every girl has dreams inside her heart. These dreams are powerful because they shape their future. But many girls are told to limit their dreams. Some are told certain careers are only for boys. Some are told their role is only in the home. Some are discouraged when challenges arise. But girls are just as intelligent, capable and strong as any one else.

"When girls receive education, mentorship, encouragement and opportunities, they grow into confident women who can achieve great things. They learn how to set goals, work hard and overcome obstacles. Being career-driven does not forgetting family or values. It means using their talents to create a better life for themselves and others. A meaningful life is one where you contribute positively to society and live with purpose. When girls succeed, family succeed. When women succeed, communities grow and when girls are empowered, nations progress.

"We must therefore continue to inspire girls to believe in themselves, to dream boldly and to never settle for less than their potential. These are some of the narratives we hope to correct through this initiative starting from here in Ilawo. Our girls must be well informed about their menstrual health and hygiene to make informed choices about their life and dreams.

With the Valentine's Day around the corner, there is no better time to educate these girls about menstruation and personal hygiene other than now in order to stop the menace of unwanted pregnancies among our school girls especially here in Ilawo." She concluded.

Over 200 menstrual packs were freely gifted to all the girls in attendance as a form of support and encouragement to promote awareness of menstrual health and hygiene among school girls.

Among those who graced the occasion were the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye who was represented by the Director of Empowerment, Mrs. Olajumoke Adewusi; Special Adviser to Gov. Dapo Abiodun on Water Resources, Hon. Damilola Otunbanjo, who was ably represented by the Admin Officer, Mr. Hope Samson; the Osi of Ilawo Kingdom, High Chief Anthony Ajani Olufade and the Akogun of Ilawo, High Chief Wasiu Balogun and other members of Ilawo Traditional Council.

MACGREGOR ROYAL FAMILY REFUTES FICTITIOUS PUBLICATION

. As Ilawo Traditional Council Suspends Errant Chief Borokini

The MacGregor Royal Family of Ilawo, Abeokuta has condemned in strong terms a recent news story posted on some online news platforms alleging property dispute in the family.

A disclaimer statement signed by the Family Head, Alhaji Najeem Adesina MacGregor categorically denied statements, claims, quotations and allegations contained in the fictitious online publication attributed to one Mutiu MacGregor.

The family stated that the content of the publication emanated solely from the said Mutiu MacGregor, who has long acted independently and contrary to family unity and who is not recognized as spokesperson of the family even as it added that "the narrative did not originate from any collective family decision, briefing or consensus which certainly does not reflect the true position, values or intentions of the MacGregor Royal Family."

The statement added that Mutiu's "actions are viewed within the family as consistently provocative, disruptive, and hostile to peace, often aimed at creating division, tension, and public controversy where none exists."

The Family Head maintained that the MacGregor Royal Family remains committed to peace, dialogue, respect for tradition, and internal dispute resolution and rejects all attempts by any individual to drag the family name, royal institution, or community into unnecessary public conflict.

Accordingly, the family disassociates itself entirely from the publication and urges the public and media to disregard the report in its entirety.

In a related development, the Ilawo Traditional Council has suspended Chief Mutiu MacGregor for gross misconduct, insubordination and acts unbecoming of a titled chief.

In a suspension letter dated 6th January 2026, signed by the Secretary of the Council, Chief Oluwatosin Diyaolu and addressed to Chief Mutiu Adejare MacGregor, the council expressed it's deep concern and regrets for the various infractions committed by the errant chief who incidentally is the 'Borokini.'

After a thorough review of actions, utterances, behaviours attributable to the Borokini which are in clear violation of Ilawo customs, traditions, palace protocols and the oath of loyalty binding all chiefs of the kingdom, the Council found him culpable of gross misconduct and insubordination to His Royal Highness Oba (Prof) Alexander Olusegun MacGregor, the Olu of Ilawo Kingdom.

Specifically, the Council suspended him for gross misconduct and persistent insubordination to the authority of His Royal Majesty, the Olu of Ilawo Kingdom; open disrespect and assault- verbal and otherwise on the Ilawo Traditional Council and the person of the king- conduct which is unacceptable  and intolerable within any constituted traditional institutions.

The Council also reprimanded him for reckless, inflammatory and unbecoming utterances capable of bringing the throne, the Council and the ancient Ilawo tradition into disrepute.

He was also found guilty of wilful refusal to pay homage to His Royal Majesty, an act that constitute a grave breach of tradition, loyalty and allegiance expected of a titled Chief of Ilawo Kingdom.

Consequently, the errant chief was suspended from participating in all council meetings and activities; representing Ilawo in any traditional, cultural or public capacity even as he was forbidden from using privileges, insignia and authority attached to the title of Borokini pending further review of disciplinary actions.

The Council also directed him to refrain from parading himself or acting in any manner as a chief of Ilawo Kingdom during the period of his suspension.

When Showers of Blessings Welcome Oba MacGregor To Alagbagba Village

A jubilant crowd of villagers defied the rains to welcome the Olu of Orile Ilawo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (Prof) Alexander Olusegun MacGregor and his beautiful wife, Yeye Omolara Fashola-MacGregor to Alagbagba Village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday 18th September 2025.

The visit which was the launch of a medical outreach programme for the elderly, women, youth and children was part of activities to mark the second year coronation anniversary of the monarch was highly anticipated as villagers thronged the village health centre for the health programme.

In a show of love and admiration for the monarch, villagers from neighbouring villages lined the road, waving enthusiastically to the monarch and his long convoy.

On his arrival at Alagbagba Village at past soon, Oba MacGregor alongside his beautiful wife and traditional council chiefs were ushered into the health centre by health workers and women who sang praises of the king.

The visit literally became a fact-finding mission for the monarch who was visibly miffed by the poor condition of the health facility which has only one bedding and lacking basic other amenities.

Similarly, Oba MacGregor was also displeased with the condition of the town hall with surroundings left unkept and leaking roofs.

It was at this point that the Baale of Alagbagba, Chief Rafiu  Adio Shodiya reported that the solar-powered borehole project was stalled by some reactionary elements who stopped the contractors and the engineer from working on the project.

A visibly miffed monarch wondered why some people would be opposed to impactful development such as the borehole project if indeed they truly mean well for the community.

He counselled: "This is your village. You must show ownership and take responsibility for this kind of project that impacts positively on the lives of your people by rejecting this kind of behaviour without resorting to violence. You must stop them and report them to the appropriate authority."

To show his concern for the poor condition of the town hall, the monarch instructed that modalities for renovation and complete facelift of the hall should be forwarded to him to bankroll while also enjoining the villagers to take responsibility for proper maintenance of the town hall going forward.

He also promised to provide the health centre with more beddings and other essential amenities to make it more functional even as he diclosed his plans to have a conversation with the commissioner of health on ways of improving the health facility.

On the medical outreach programme, Oba MacGregor stated that the outreach will attend to cases of diabetes, high blood pressure and other ailments. "Through our partners, Sygen Pharmaceuticals, we have more than enough drugs to go round. We value you and your well-being and that is why we are organizing this medical outreach so that you can be tested and treated for some of the minor ailments that can affect your health and well-being," the monarch said.

The visit was eventually rounded off with a novelty football match held at Community High School, Alagbagba football field between Alagbagba Village and Abeokuta which ended 3-0  in favour of the home team to win the glittering gold cup donated by the monarch.

Speaking at the end of the keenly contested match, the monarch shared his excitement.

"For me, there is no winner, no loser. The youths of Ilawo won today because the two teams are youths of Ilawo and I am excited our youths have a unique opportunity to share in the joy of this moment," Oba MacGregor stated.

Soon afterwards, the heavens literally opened up with torrential rainfall that villagers described as showers of blessings and a mark of the gods acceptance of Kabiyesi's visit to Alagbagba.

The visit to Alagbagba Village came a day after the week-long coronation anniversary programmes began with a 7.5km Walkathon along some communities in Abeokuta.

The Ogunsanyas: A Serial Episode of Lies, Fraud and Criminal Impersonation

By nature, humans are ambitious beings. But pursuing inordinate ambitions with a serial episode of outright lies and greed say a lot about the extent of one's desperation.

This is the lot of the Lawrence Olufemi Ogunsanya Family of Ilawo, Abeokuta whose fruitless desperation for the Orile Ilawo stool has revealed an ignoble stock in trade of a family famed for outright lies, public incitement, academic fraud and criminal impersonation.

After an ignoble loss of the Ilawo stool to Oba (Prof) Alexander Olusegun MacGregor, both Lawrence Olufemi Ogunsanya-one of the failed candidates to the Ilawo stool and his son, David Oluwaseun Ogunsanya soon formed a tag team to mount ceaseless attacks ostensibly to incite the community against the palace through lies and court rulings (which is under appeal) to confuse the native community and incite violence.

The latest of the Ogunsanyas' concoction of lies was served over the weekend when the self-professed medical doctor son, Seun Ogunsanya literally lied and twisted facts concerning the installation of a Baale in Alagbagba village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State. In a viral WhatsApp post, he wrongfully alluded that the police forced the cancellation of the installation based on the execution of a court ruling.

But investigation soon revealed that this is a lie from the pit of hell to score a cheap political point.

Contrary to his outright fabrication, there was only one installation listed for the event and the police merely advised the intending Baale and his supporters to stand off further actions pending investigation of a petition written by his opponents to avert the likelihood of an unrest.

It would be recalled that the same Seun Ogunsanya had recently called for a public action against Alaiyeluwa Oba (Prof) Alexander Olusegun MacGregor as the rightful king of Ilawo Kingdom, but not a few considered his viral post as the ranting of a drowning man.

But indeed, as the famous Apala music legend, Ayinla Omowura once sang: 'If your soup is tasteless, don't vent your spleen on the leaf.' There is no gainsaying that two years ago, Lawrence Ogunsanya, the father was utterly rejected as king through the collective will of Ilawo people fair and square. But he would rather want to force his way unto the throne by resorting to the rule of the jungle by mobilizing and inciting insurrection against Oba Macgregor.

He allegedly urged his supporters to resist and counteract MacGregor's directives, insisting that he (Ogunsanya) is the lawfully elected Olu of Orile-Ilawo.

MacGregor has since been installed king and presented with the staff of office by the governor of Ogun State. However, Ogunsanya and his supporters have refused to accept this and have been causing unrest within the community.

In several videos circulating within the community, Ogunsanya had boasted that if his supporters carry out their heinous activities against the Olu of Orile-Ilawo and are arrested, he will ensure that none of them is sent to jail or convicted for such heinous activities.

Concerned about the safety and security of his community, the Olu of Ilawo had through a petition called on the police to investigate the matter and bring the suspects to justice. Acting on the petition, the police had detained Ogunsanya senior and five others pending the outcome of investigation. But in a clear subterfuge move, Ogunsanya Junior allegedly ensured the matter was transfered to Abuja where the suspects were eventually released thereby compromising further investigation.

Speaking on the matter, the spokesperson and publicist to the Ilawo monarch, Lanre Olaleye stated that the latest call for insurrection against his principal has shown a clear character pattern of the Ogunsanyas."It's a clear pattern and stock in trade for the Ogunsanyas. A year ago, Lawrence Ogunsanya mobilized and incited insurrection against Kabiyesi to legitimize his illegitimate claim to the Ilawo stool.

"This is another series of his pathological lies. He is a fraud and a liar. It is not uncommon for a fraud and a liar to continue to lie and deceive people within the traditional setting using the same pattern. He should not be taken serious," the publicist said.

He continued: This tag-team of sore-losers don't mean well for Ilawo. The father, Lawrence had concocted lies including parading himself as the Akogun of Ilawo. But the authentic Akogun of Ilawo remains Chief Wasiu Balogun. Again, he was detained by the police for inciting violence but was eventually released on bail after the case was transfered to Abuja and the matter was momentarily stalled. We are going to recall the case file to Abeokuta for thorough investigation because this is a local matter and not a federal case. We are going to reopen the case for justice to be served because this incitement is recurring again through his son, Seun who is another kettle of fish all together.

"We want to believe Ogunsanya Jnr is learned enough to understand that it is extra judicial and contempt of court for him to mobilize public support on a matter that is already before the court. Just like his father, the self professed medical doctor is trying to galvanize sympathy for his father's cause through subterfuge means against customs, tradition and constituted authority.

"For the record, Seun Ogunsanya is not who he claims to be. He is a nutritionist and not a medical doctor. On his LinkedIn profile, he claims to be a Ph.D holder. That is Academic Fraud because he only has a Master Degree from University of Ibadan and not a Ph.D. He also claims to be an historian, how does he qualifies for that title? Is it by being a fraud or an impersonator? We heard he is threatening a libel suit? We hope he dully understand the intricacy of libel because the onus lies on him to prove his integrity before a court of competent jurisdiction.

"Ilawo people have seen through it but they are just concerned about their safety and the community. They have been appealing to Kabiyesi to use the extent of the law  against them and that's what we plan to do through the N1billion defamation suit Kabiyesi has instituted against them." Olaleye posited

For the first family of Orile Ilawo, charity and giving back to the society is not just a past time activity but a strong conviction for the emancipation of the poor and the less-privileged in the society particularly the indigents of Ilawo community.

Through the MacGregor Heritage Foundation, the Ilawo monarch is reaching out to many families through medical outreach that caters for pregnant women and the elderly.

The foundation is also providing shoulders for the elderly to rest their limbs through palliative food programmes while the young ones are also being encouraged to continue their education through scholarships programmes.

For the women, Oba MacGregor through the assistance of his queen, Olori Fashola-Macgregor is also promoting business entrepreneurship by providing start-up capitals for women to start businesses of their own.

In a bid to sustain the environment and promote good health and hygiene, the foundation has drilled boreholes and built toilets in some communities in Ilawo.

On her part, Olori Fashola- MacGregor, a maritime lawyer and cultural ambassador has established the Ile Olokun Foundation  to provide support and grants to women and children across Africa while also engaging with people at the grassroots and across all societal classes.

As a testament to her commitment to promoting the Yoruba cultural heritage, Dr. Omolara MacGregor organizes the yearly Olokun Festival in Lagos which attracts enthusiasts from around the world.

The conferment ceremony is expected to hold on Thursday June 12th 2025 at the Court House of the palace.

All traditional and Royal Chiefs of Ilawo Kingdom are expected to attend the event.

The conferment is coming on the heels of a recent visit to the Olu of Orile Ilawo's palace on May 16th 2025 by a delegation of Rotary Club District 9111 Abeokuta.

The delegation which included Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, Rtn. Adejoke Green, Rtn. Chief (Dr) Edward Alo, Rtn Mojeed Dauda and Rtn Bolaji Peters had come to pay homage to the Alaiyeluwa as well as identifying with his good works since he mounted the Ilawo stool..

According to the Leader of Delegation, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, the visit was also designed to convey Rotary's official recognition and appointment as Royal Father of the Club.

"This is in recognition and appreciation of your Royal Majesty's outstanding scholarly accomplishments and enduring commitment to the welfare and development of your people at Orile Ilawo Kingdom and beyond.

"Your reputation as a traditional ruler who blends wisdom, intellect and humility in service to humanity aligns with the core values of Rotary-service above self," Prof. Akinlabi said.

Archbishop Ojumu of African Church Serves Retirement Notice

Soon after the departure of the Rotary's entourage, the meeting of the Ilawo Traditional Council commenced almost immediately. The meeting which lasted for about two hours primarily centred on preparations towards the second coronation anniversary of the Olu of Ilawo, Oba (Prof) Alexander Olusegun MacGregor expected to hold in September 2025.

Despite his tight schedule, Kabiyesi still squeezed out time to receive in audience a delegation from St. Peters African Church, Ilawo led by His Grace Most Rev. G.O.B. Ojumu, the Archbishop of Ogun Province/ Diocesan Abeokuta Diocese.

The courtesy visit was also designed to officially informed the Royal Father of Archbishop Ojumu's forthcoming retirement slated for later this year.

In his welcome address, Chief A. A. Olufade, the Osi of Ilawo Kingdom acknowledged the role and sterling contribution of Archbishop Ojumu during the Obaship struggle which eventually culminated in the selection of Prof. MacGregor as the new Olu of Orile Ilawo Kingdom.

He expressed mixed-feelings on the imminent retirement of the Archbishop noting that his invaluable spiritual support would be sorely missed by all and sundry but prayed for God's continued guidance and benevolence in his retirement.

While recalling with nostalgia the contribution of Archbishop Ojumu to his emergence as Olu of Ilawo Kingdom, Oba expressed his eternal gratitude to the departing Archbishop.

"The very first person who prayed for me when the struggle started was none other than Archbishop Ojumu. I still keep the anointing oil you gave me when we first met and you prayed for me. I felt the spirit and he attended many prayer sessions with us even after the coronation.

"Words are just not enough to express the love which the Archbishop has for me. It's just pure and genuine and I give thanks to God and to him for his service," the monarch said

According to him, the only church that has connectivity with the people is the African Church adding that the traditional institutions and the church are not at odds with each other as the church continues to render selfless service which are hard to find, the traditional institutions helps to maintain peace and tranquility among the people of diverse religious backgrounds.

Archbishop Ojumu while appreciating God for keeping His words concerning Oba MacGregor assured his relationship with the palace would not wane even in his retirement. "The African Church is your church and we would continue to pray relentlessly for Kabiyesi in his plans for progress and development of Ilawo

Even as he acknowledged Kabiyesi's numerous contribution to the church, like Oliver Twist, the Archbishop seized the opportunity to request for more by reminding the monarch of the provision of his symbolic chair at the church and the solar-powered electricity at the church.

OUR NEW KING IS NOT A CRIMINAL

Isolo Chiefs Rise In Defence of Oba Shekoni

Isolo traditional chiefs have stoutly defended the choice of Oba Issa Abiodun Faronbi Shekoni as the new Osolo of Isolo.

The chiefs passed the vote of confidence on the new monarch on Monday 7th April 2025 during the ninth day coronation ceremony held at the new palace in Isolo.

In separate interviews, the chiefs debunked rumours suggesting Oba Shekoni is a criminal not worthy of the exalted throne of Isolo. This is coming on the heels of a viral video in which the then Prince Abiodun Shekoni was handcuffed by police detectives over a land dispute.

Speaking on the viral video, Chief Yahya Lawal Arowooye, the Agbaakin of Isolo who incidentally was a contestant to the Osolo throne said the allegation is baseless and unfounded.

According to him, the allegation is the handwork of detractors who are bent on tarnishing the name and integrity of Oba Shekoni. "We have not installed a criminal as being speculated because Oba Shekoni is a man of integrity and impeccable character.

"What happened is purely a land dispute within the Ojo Orisadeko Asalu Elemo Royal Family at Ajao Estate. As we speak, no court has pronounced him guilty of such allegation. Hence, it remains in the realm of mere speculation. We all know the overzealous nature of the police sometimes. Those behind the video are only out to tarnish his image and I expect the state government to call those behind it for questioning.

"For us in Isolo, we have installed our new king with the consent and approval of the state government. Detractors only want to destabilize the smooth succession to the Osolo throne. But thank God Isolo is a non-violence community and we are moving on," Chief Agbaakin said.

On his part, the Lisa of Isolo, High Chief Akibu Aregbe also poured cold water on the allegation. "The allegation is pure nonsense. Our new king is not a criminal. For those involved in land matters, this is no big deal because disputes over land matters is a normal occurrence. We have installed a new king and we have all accepted him because the crowd that daily thronged his palace since his installation attest to his acceptability.

"Those behind the video do not love Isolo. If 15 people contested for the throne, only one person would eventually emerge and Oba Shekoni is the chosen one. What I expect from other contestant is for them to rally round the new king to move the town forward if they truly love Isolo. But character asassination is not desirable for our town, this time around" he said.

Also speaking on the matter, Isolo Regent, Chief Wasiu Arowooye, who incidentally was also a contestant to the throne thanked God and Isolo deities for the smooth transition. "Since Oba Shekoni's emergence as the new Osolo of Isolo, we have all cooperated with him especially me because we all promised to cooperate with whoever emerges as the new king because all we wanted is for the progress and development of Isolo.

"The rumour making the round is not true because there is no rancour in Isolo. I therefore implore other contestants to join hands with the new king to move Isolo forward." He concluded.

For Chief Kazeem Ewedairo, the Ajiroba of Isolo, Oba Shekoni was crowned legally by the state government at the state Secretariat, Alausa. "He is not a hooligan as being portrayed. He is eminently qualified to ascend the throne because he is from a royal family like other contestants. The photos and the videos are sponsored to tarnish his image. We know those behind it and their intentions.

"Why would the police handcuffed a suspect and record him on video only to post the video on the internet if they are not part of the conspiracy. That is what baffles us. We know what steps to take on the matter but we were being restrained by the interventions of some people in the matter," says Ajiroba of Isolo.

Oba Shekoni became the new monarch of the ancient Awori town on Friday 28th March, 2025 following his crowning and installation by the state government in a ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Alausa Secretariat, Lagos.
