UNCOMMON GRACE! Lagos Police Without CP For Over A Month

. New Man Currently Attending Course Abroad

By Lanre Olaleye

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police has been left unmanned for more than a month following the promotion of former Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa to rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

Owohunwa who became Lagos CP early this year was among 11 others Commissioners of Police elevated to the next rank on 11th October 2023. Since his departure, no replacement has been named by the PSC.

This development, The Snoop gathered has left the Lagos Police Command unmanned for 33 days after Owohunwa's departure.

"This has never happened before in the history of the Lagos police command for it to operate without a substantive CP" a police source told our reporter.

When prodded to know what could be the reason for the delay in naming Owohunwa's replacement for over a month, multiple Police sources informed that the substantive replacement (name withheld) is currently attending course abroad and would only return in December.

Investigation, however, revealed that a new Lagos CP is already known but the police authority preferred to keep it a secret until his announcement is officially announced.

The incoming Lagos police boss, we gathered is a young and affarble Yoruba man from one of the South-west states. His ascension to the post of Lagos CP was described by one of our sources as an "uncommon grace" similar to that of the present Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun who held sway as Lagos CP between 2017 and 2019.
