Osun APC Crisis: Osoba To The Rescue
By Lanre Olaleye
This followed the rejection of the intervention of the National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by The Osun Progressives (TOP) to resolve the matter.
TOP, an amalgamated support group loyal to former governor,
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola had jettisoned the idea of having Asiwaju to resolve the
matter because he was an interested party in the crisis.
The group made their rejection known in a rejoinder to an
article titled, ‘Open letter to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu: The Osun calabash
must not be broken ” written by one Akanni Omo Oba.
In the rejoinder which was signed by prominent leaders of
the the group, it chronicled how previous interventions by Asiwaju. Bisi Akande
and the Caretaker Extraordinary and
Convention Planning Committee of the APC sent to resolve the crisis within the
Osun APC had failed.
Aregbesola, who was Osun State Governor between 2010 and
2018, and Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who is seeking re-election, had been at
loggerheads over the control of the APC organs in the state.
Aregbesola had declared war against Oyetola and Tinubu
during a campaign rally at Ijebu-jesha few days to the governorship primary
election in the state.
He accused Tinubu of not calling Oyetola to order soon after
reneging on 'agreement' after the latter became governor.
A source close to Asiwaju's camp told The Snoop that the APC National Leader was greatly embarrassed by Aregbesola's direct attack on his person which is being considered inimical to his presidential ambition.
Our source who does not want to be identified because of the
sensitivity of the matter said:
"Asiwaju is greatly troubled at the turn of events. He had tried to
reach out to Rauf about a week ago but it came rather too late because it seems
Rauf and his people had lost enough patience with him.
On the way forward, our source who is close to the three
combatants in the matter revealed that as it stands now, Governor Oyetola and
Tinubu may have to succumb to TOP's
demand for Osoba's intervention in the crisis.
"They have no choice but to accede to their demand of
having only Osoba as the man to resolve the crisis because Rauf's men believe
it's only Osoba who can adjudicate fairly in the matter.
"Even though Asiwaju might not want this but he has no
choice. Osoba is the only one who can be fair and decisive on this issue,"
our source concluded.
