Real Reason Why Bianca Slapped Ebele Obiano
By Lanre Olaleye
Details are beginning to emerge on why former beauty queen and wife of the late Igbo Warlord, Dim Emeka Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu landed the first slap on former First Lady of Anambra State, Ebelechukwu Obiano during yesterday's inauguration ceremony of new governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
Video evidence had shown the former First Lady was the one who stoked the fire of the show of shame by leaving her seat to confront Bianca who was sitting about 10 metres away from her, but rather in a counter-attack move, the beauty queen delightfully moved against her attacker by landing the first slap like a charging bull to the delight of those close to the two combatants.
As many were left in awe over the public show of shame by the two celebrities, close government watchers in Awka, the Anambra State capital are quick to allude to the fact that the proverbial 'Law of Karma's may have taken its toll on Ebelechukwu. For those quite familiar with the former First Lady, she has an unenviable track record of landing 'hot and dirty slaps' on her traducers at the slightest provocation.
Perhaps, Bianca had taken Ebele's first attack antecedents into account and was prepared for a surprise as she swiftly got up on her feet and arranged a well articulated slap on the embattled former First Lady.
Stories were poignantly told of how Ebelechukwu had become a torn in the flesh of many of her numerous traducers in the past, throwing decorum to the wind and causing scenes inimical to the image of a First Lady.
Sources recalled a similar incident that occured seven years ago after the dedication of the child of the Anglican Bishop of Awka, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Ibezim at the Cathedral of St. Faith, Awka.
The wife of the Deputy Governor was said to have complained to the wife of Dr. Alex Ekwueme on how Ebere Obiano does not carry her along in whatever she does. Desirous of brokering peace, Ekwueme’s Wife, Beatrice got audience with Mrs Obiano and advised her on the need to carry everybody along, especially the wife of the Deputy Governor. At this point, Mrs Obiano flayed and claimed that the constitution recognizes her and not the Wife of the Deputy. Immediately her Deputy shouted back but Mrs Obiano allegedly slapped her. It took the intervention of security men to prevent the duo from physical fight.
During the quarrel, the wife of the Deputy Governor reportedly told the First Lady she cannot kill her as she killed her maid, nor slap her as she usually slaps drivers.
Yet, three months ago, another story leaked on how Mrs. Obiano engaged in an open quarrel with a member of the House of Representatives from the state, Uche Ekwunife. Stories were told of how the timely intervention of the erstwhile First Lady, Dr. Patience Goodluck, saved the member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Hon Uche Ekwunife from being attacked by the Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Ebele Obiano in faraway Poland.
Both women were said to be on the entourage of the First Lady to Poland. Trouble started when on arrival with the First Lady, who was accompanied by Uche Ekwunife, Bola Shagaya and others, Ebele Obiano who was among those at the airport to receive the First Lady greeted every other person except Uche Ekwunife.
Later in the day, when Ebere Obiano came to see the First Lady, according to sources with the First Lady, she again greeted everybody except Uche Ekwunife. Those who had noticed the trend asked her why the uncouth behaviour. Pointing at Uche, she reportedly said: ”I do not greet prostitute,” to the astonishment of all those around. Uche Ekwunife did not utter a word, according to our sources, until Ebele Obiano threatened to deal with her and make sure she crumbles all her businesses in Awka.
An enraged, Uche however, snapped: “I will not trade words with you. That you killed your husband’s first wife for him to marry you does not mean you can deal with other women (Ebere Obiano used to be the secretary to Obiano until he lost his wife and married her); that you are dealing with your alcoholic husband does not mean you can deal with me,” Ekwunife reportedly told Ebele Obiano.
A jolted Ebele Obiano replied: ”My husband drinks champagne not alcohol,” providing comic relief that set everybody laughing even as she was about to engage in fisticuffs. It was at this point that Dame Patience Jonathan intervened, joined by other women.
They lambasted Obiano’s wife for lack of manners and morals, just as Patience Jonathan reprimanded her for desecrating the Office of the First Lady. The former First Lady was quoted as saying: “Instead of you to go to Margaret Obi to teach you how to be a First Lady, I heard you no longer talk to her. This your behaviour today has confirmed all that is said about you. Please, if this is how you behave, never join me on any trip again, both within and outside the country."While many Anambrarians are excited that the widow of their highly revered leader was not put to shame by the enfant terrible former First Lady, some are quick to posit that the show of shame of the two celebrities is actually a slap on the people of Anambra State.
